Suomen Rupijakalat presents the crustose lichens of Finland, as well as some accompanying mushrooms, for a total of 300 species. Suomen Rupijakalat is a continuation of the Tieto-Finlandia award-winning book Suomen Jakalaopas, published in 2011.
The book is aimed at professionals, students, and enthusiasts. The introduction covers, amongst others, distinguishing features and habitats of crustose lichens, as well as tips on collecting, identifying, and photographing crustose lichens. The species section consists of names and species descriptions, as well as growth locations and prevalence data. Each species also has a color photograph. Terminology used, the most important literature, a Finnish-to-English Dictionary, and a name index can be found in the final section of the book. In addition, the book contains a list of all of Finland's lichen species and lichens encountered with parasitic fungi and certain other lichen-associated ascomycetes, for a total of 1965 species.
The book project has received funding from the Ministry of Environment under the PUTTE program, which looks at and threatened forest species where knowledge is deficient.
