This darling porcelain vase depicts a finely dressed, chubby cheeked boy (in 18th century nickers, shirt and jacket) on a garden slide with green shrubbery and delicately applied flowers behind. It has two openings, originally for matches and spills. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Originally, spill vases sat on fireplace mantels and held “spills” or thin curls of wood for lighting candles and lamps. Base sticker reads, “UCAGCO”. The United China and Glass Company was based in New Orleans and New York. This is probably a mid century era piece. UCAGCO was sold in 1956.
