Vintage Madame Alexander Jane Pierce (#1515) 13"-1st Ladies Series III NRFB with original box. Never Displayed, Never Played with. Kept in Original Blue box since 1984. Original owner. Original Blue Box and pink tissue paper included in sale.

Jane Pierce is the wife of the 14th US President, Franklin Pierce (1853-1857).

Mrs. Pierce has Dark Blonde hair styled around her head in 4 large fat banana curls. She has Blue/Gray eyes that automatically open and close when the doll is moved from horizontal to vertical position and vice versa.

Mrs. Pierce wears an ethereal gown of black tulle dotted with seemingly 1000 sparkly tiny decorations over a black taffeta under skirt. She wears a matching jacket shawl held in place in front with a large star shaped broach with 6 small and one large center rhinestones interspersed with open brass spokes. The jacket and skirt are trimmed in thin gold. Mrs. Pierce's headpiece is like a lotus flower sitting flat on top of her head, made of matching black tulle with gold trim and a black satin bow.

Under the gown is a pale pink lace-trimmed taffeta half slip with 2" crinoline and pantaloons. Mrs. Pierce wears white stockings and two black satin slip-on shoes with brass and rhinestone decoration.

Under both forearms are small stains from touching the gown decorations.

There is a ribbon tag and paper tag showing Madame Alexander authenticity.

Doll purchased from Lord & Taylor in 1984, but stamp on back of doll's neck shows a faint possible "70."
