Rick Remender and Wes Craig's Deadly Class is a modern masterpiece. This book collects the first three arcs of the series, or the entirety of Freshman Year. If you enjoy well-done teen drama with heaps of violence and gorgeous art, you will love this book. Except unlike the real world, angst in Deadly Class is explosive and violent. Also, way too much fun. The actual hardcover it self is amazing. Heavy, thick pages, binding is legit, and its frickin pink!

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have signed on to produce a television series based on Deadly Class. The Sony Pictures Television-produced adaptation has been optioned as a pilot for the Syfy channel. Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, Michel Duval and María Gabriela de Faría are among the actors cast in main roles for the series. Syfy has released its first footage of Deadly Class, an adaptation of the Image Comics title from writer Rick Remender and artist Wesley Craig.

Along with clips and behind-the-scenes footage of the series, the video also has statements from executive producers the Russo Brothers and Remender.

“Deadly Class is one of the more twisted coming-of-age stories we’ve ever read,” Joe Russo said. “First time we read the book we were blown away.”

Remender added, “Fans of the comic book are going to be delighted. Deadly Class is authentic, honest and brutal. The threats are real.”

“It’s a mix of a lot of different sensibilities, spanning everything from our more intense action work like Captain America: The Winter Soldier to more of our absurd sensibilities,” Joe Russo said.

Launched in 2014, Deadly Class is set against the backdrop of the late-1980s counterculture at King’s Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts, where the children of the world’s worst crime families send their children to be trained as assassins.

Deadly Class stars Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams), Benjamin Wadsworth (Teen Wolf), Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse, Alita: Battle Angel), Maria Gabriela de Faria (Yo Soy Franky, Sitiados), Luke Tennie (Shock and Awe), Liam James (The Way Way Back, The Killing) and Michel Duval (Señora Acero, Queen of the South).

No premiere date has been announced, but the series will debut in 2019.
