The data by which this 3D topographical map was created came from NASA's Dawn spacecraft mission in August 2011.

Rheasilvia is the most prominent surface feature on the asteroid Vesta and is thought to be an impact crater. It is 505 km in diameter, which is 90% the diameter of Vesta itself, and is 95% the mean diameter of Vesta, 529 km. The Rheasilvia impact basin in Vesta's south-polar region affected Vesta's global shape and geology. It was also interesting that it was named after Rhea Silvia, a mythological vestal virgin and mother of the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus.
