Vintage 1940s Lucien Lelong Cologne Orgueil Rare Bottle.
I am currently going through the perfume collection of my friend’s grandmother. Many of her bottles seem to have never been used. This is one of them. As you can see from the photos there seems to be all four fluid ounces present!
This bottle debuted in 1949. It has a an unusual, lovely design. It was acid etched to give it a frosted look. This Lucien Lelong bottle design is very rare! I could not find another.
According to the website www.lucienlelongperfumes.blogspot.com Orgueil was launched in 1946. Orgueil means “Pride” in French.
The scent was created by Jean Carles after the liberation of France from German occupation and expresses her pride for the French victory.
The fragrance composition is:
So what does it smell like? It is described as an aldehydic fruity floral oriental fragrance with soft floral and spicy oriental undertones.
- Top notes: aldehydes, plum, peach, sweet pea
- Middle notes: carnation, tuberose, jasmine, iris, Bulgarian rose, cloves, nutmeg
- Base notes: Tonkin musk, patchouli, labdanum, vanilla, oakmoss, sandalwood, ambergris and leather.
I wish there was an app for smelling perfumes!
There is no box for this bottle.
I welcome all questions and requests for more photos.
