Here is a unique Art Vogue of California Asian print Hawaiian shirt.  The trees throughout are such a fresh green.  This is certainly not a loud in your face shirt, but rather a subtle and intriguing one.  There are objects and script pictured, the significance and meaning of which I have no idea.  There are birds and thatched roof abodes, that is clear.
I am not sure if this piece dates from the 1940’s or 1950’s.  It has horizontal button holes, a loop collar, shell buttons, the double stitched side seams, the matched to the print pocket.  There is no label stating what the fabric is, but there is a small label that reads “Imported Fabric”.  The fabric is beautiful....it could be a rayon crepe, but it also could be a silk crepe...it feels like kimono fabric.
The size on the label says L 16-16 1/2.  In today’s  sizing it would better suit a Medium.  The shoulder to shoulder measurement is 18”.
The chest size measures 46”.  The length in the back from the top of the collar to the bottom edge is 30”.
As far as condition - the only flaw is an odd pleat in the fabric at the second button hole from the top.  You can see it in photo #7 and #8.
When the shirt is buttoned it is hardly noticeable.  I also noticed that there appears to be hand top stitching all around the outside edge of the collar.  There are two very tiny spots toward the bottom of the right side of the shirt which can be seen photo $6 :nevertheless,  the shirt is in beautiful condition.
This Art Vogue shirt would make a fine addition to the vintage Hawaiian shirt colllector who is looking for something a little off the beaten track.....
