This variety of dent corn was introduced to Scott County VA by Hop McConnell whereby it bears his name. The kernels on an ear all all of the same color, either red, white, or speckled red & white. Our family has been growing and selectively saving seeds from this variety for over 20 years, some of the features we have been working on improving is the size of the ears, lowering the ears on the stalks (less likely to get blown over in heavy wind), having 2 ears per stalk, as well as improving the overall health(resistance to pests etc).

Ears in our experience range 9 to 13 inches for most but can vary slightly outside of that range.  Stalks grow around 13 feet tall and feature 1 to 2 ears per stalk. 

This is a longer season dent corn so be sure to order now so you can be ready to put it in the ground as early as possible after last frost. 

Germination test showed 94%, packaged for planting in 2023 growing season.
