THIS WEEK: Our cover picture represents the presentation of a bust of the late Enrico Caruso to the Metropolitan Opera House on October 29. Standing, left to right, Louis D'Angelo, Metropolitan baritone celebrating his thirtieth anniversary with the company this season, Miss Lucrezia Bori, Mrs. Dorothy Caruso, widow of the tenor, Josephine Jacoby, who sang mezzo-soprano roles at the Opera House with Caruso from 1903, the year of his debut, until 1908 and General Manager Edward Johnson. We are happy to introduce the first in a series of articles by the Guild's roving reporter, the distinguished tenor, Riccardo Martin, remembered for his leading roles at the Metropolitan front 1907 to 1917. The interview which Lilian Focrster describes with Lee Simonson, the renowned artist responsible for the setting of The Ring of the Nibelung, was characterized by Mr. Simonson as "an extraordinarily good job as journalism dramatically presented, direct enough to hold any reader's interest, and very sound and informative technically."

Issued weekly during the Opera Season and fortnightly in the Spring and Fall by THE METROPOLITAN OPERA GUILD 654 MADISON AVENUE, NEW YORK, N. Y.
