The Polymer Laboratories PL-ELS 1000 is an evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) that is used for HPLC 
spectrophotometry detection. It has advantages over UV detection because it doesn't require the solute to have a UV 
chromophore or the eluent to be UV transparent. This allows for a wider choice of eluent systems. ELS is the 
preferred detection method for many analytical techniques, including:
HPLC, Microbore, LC/MS, High Speed, Combinatorial Chemistry, GPC, HTGPC, TREF, and GPEC.
