Leontopodium Alpinum is also a medicinal herb. Cuttings can be taken from the herb plant and used to make a tea to treat diarrhea or can be infused into regular moisturizing creams to add anti-wrinkle benefits!

Germination instructions: Edelweiss seeds are very tiny, so when placing the seeds into the growing medium, gently press so that they will "stay put" while ensuring they aren't fully submersed into the soil, as they need sunlight to germinate. Likewise, a heavy-weighted water pouring causes the seeds to sink under the soil and to be covered in darkness. Achieve optimal germination results by using a mister to moisturize so they won't shift around and sink on you.

Keep the seeds and soil moist until germination is complete (about 35 days). If you have the option, start these seeds indoors in starter trays that are placed near a a sunny window. That would protect them from a swift wind blowing them away and from temperature extremes. Edelweiss thrives in 70 degree temperatures however once they are established they are very drought tolerant, forgiving perennials that do just fine in less-than-temperate, sunny environments.
