The Clutch is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It engages the transmission that drives the wash basket's rotation during agitation and spinning cycles. Without a functioning clutch, the washer cannot transition effectively between wash and rinse operations. The clutch measures 4-7/8 inches in diameter

Causes of a bad clutch can include wear from repetitive use over many years or damage to the clutch coil that triggers engagement. Parts may have weakened to a point where they no longer make full contact needed for proper shifting.

Symptoms of a bad clutch include:

• The washer basket not spinning or turning at all
• Agitation but no transition to spin or vice versa
• Loud grinding noises coming from the transmission area
