VINTAGE WOODEN BUTTER MOLD AND BUTTER HAND

Features:

• 1900s - 1940s Hinged Butter Mold
• Ridged Butter Worker
• Rectangular Shape
• Made in USA
• Hand Wash

This vintage butter mold is hinged, making a rectangular box shape when closed. It would date circa the early 1900s. The outside edge measurements are approximately 7 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches deep. The inside measurements are approximately 7 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches deep. The wood has a great old patina that can only come from age and use, including scuffing, and stains from use and handling. The hinges appear to be brass, but I am not positive on that. It is very similar to vintage butter molds that would have been brought to this County by German Immigrants in the early to mid 1800s.

The butter worker, or hand, or spade, whatever you prefer to call it, is ridged on one side, and does have a small chip on one side. It would date circa the 1920s - 1940s. It has an overall length of 9 3/4 inches in length. The working area of the paddle is approximately 4 1/2 inches by 3 inches.

I picked them up at a local estate sale and they are being sold in as found condition. They would be a perfect addition to any primitive kitchen collection.
