Vintage MADAME ALEXANDER,13" Martha Johnson Patterson #1518,1st Ladies series III NRFB. Never Displayed, Never Played with. Kept in Original Blue box (included in sale) since 1984.
Martha Patterson was the eldest daughter of the 17th US President, Andrew Johnson, who became president after Lincoln was assassinated (1865-1869).
Mrs. Patterson has Bright Blonde hair styled with one long banana curl on her right (w/flower) and a round bun on her left. She has Blue/Gray eyes that automatically open and close when the doll is moved from horizontal to vertical position and vice versa.
Mrs. Patterson wears a magnificent silver and multicolored floral Brocade gown with a full-length cream colored hooded cape with gold lace trim and golden tassels and tie. The waist and neck of the gown are decorated with a scalloped trim. Under the gown is a white lace-trimmed taffeta half slip with 2" crinoline and pantaloons. She wears white stockings and 2 gold colored satin slip-on shoes.
There is a ribbon tag and paper tag showing Madame Alexander authenticity.
Doll purchased from Lord & Taylor in 1984, but stamp on back of doll's neck shows a faint possible "73."
