From the legendary Joe's Record Paradise, the store used its promotional t-shirt to pay tribute to Joy Division's album Unknown Pleasures and its now-famous artwork.

That record was a huge influence on the music scene when it was released in 1979, so it's no surprise that a shop with such a commitment to music would feature a reversed version of the famous cover on the front of its own shirt.

The back of the shirt naturally features the shop's instantly identifiable logo.

At that point, they had been open for less than a decade. Their first location opened in 1974, and despite many changes in location, who knew they would be here to celebrate their 50th Year Anniversary this year in 2024! That's quite a feat for any business, but they have made themselves indispensable and remain a valuable resource to wider Montgomery County, Maryland, Washington DC, and beyond. Even the much-loved Las Vegas-based TV show Pawn Stars features them as authentication experts on their show.

Growing up in Montgomery County, my husband and I both frequented the shop long before we ever met. That's where he eventually picked up this short-sleeved promotional t-shirt which he wore regularly - and never retired it.

The tag is missing after all these years, so I will need to measure it for fit accuracy, but I believe it is a 1980s men's size large. Of course, anyone could wear it - especially since the thinning fabric has made it a bit silky so it drapes quite nicely when worn.

The color isn't quite black, nor is it blue enough to be navy. It's likely just fading - but it appears to be black and also a very dark, muted blue at the same time. The color, along with the graphic style, makes it a perfect addition to any music lover's casual look. Nicely dual-sided, this Joe's Record Paradise t-shirt is also constructed with the highly sought-after single stitching.

Don't miss the opportunity to get your hands on this awesome vintage tee from Joe's Record Paradise circa 1980. It might be the only one of its kind that remains to represent this very special shop that has earned its spot in the history books and made an amazing story in its wake.

Please feel free to make me an offer!
