Your Child from 6 to 12
published in 1949 by the Federal Security Agency - Children's Bureau From an editorial review: A surprisingly complete overview of the subject matter, this rather detailed look at child development and parenting issues was put out by the Children's Bureau of the U.S. Social Security Administration in 1949. The number of topics touched on is impressive, and historically serves as much as a marker of the progress of generally-accepted knowledge regarding child development & psychology as it does a still-relevant source of advice. With sections entitled (for example) "How Discipline and Punishment Differ" and "Childhood is Worthy of Respect", this is much more than the gently chiding, high-principles/low-practicality sort of parenting guide that preceded a generation earlier. An outstanding resource even today. This book is in good condition. The top and bottom of the spine have about a 1/2 inch tear. the front cover has edge wear and has a wrinkle at bottom right. The first 2 pages are wrinkled - presumably from the way it was bound. |
