From the inside of the dust jacket:

An interesting and fact-filled history of the pace cars from the earliest models down to the aerodynamic creations of today, expertly written and reasearched by L. Spencer Riggs. Spectacular color, and black and white photos featuring the pace cars, great action shots and pre-race activities, as well as a few celebrities, are found in abundance throughout the book.

There's also a section featuring photos of the Official Cars and some famous faces of those who have helped make the Indy 500 what it is today.

The book begins with the first race in 1911. The photos you will be seeing throughout are from the original prints taken at the time. We repret [sic] that in the early years there were only a few photo [sic] of each pace car available. We included some photos of famous people and not so famous once. The names of people in the photos were not always known to us, however, they may be familiar to you. We also included some photos of rarely seen executive cars from the early years. Today the executives are furnished with pace cars to drive during the festivities.

We hope you find this book informative and as much fun to read as it was for us to publish.
