25 Pheasant Eye Adonis Seeds Flower Perennial

Pheasant eye adonis a hardy annual in zones 3 and higher...which means  it is typically tolerant of cold temperatures and is generally capable of reseeding in most gardens. Produces a multitude of  1 1/2 - 2 inch blooms.  This scarlet cup-shaped flower, with a black center and lacy fern-like foliage,  which a few decades ago was common, has been decreasing so rapidly, that now it has become a rare plant. Named for the greek god of plants a greek myth tells of the beautiful youth adonis, beloved of aphrodite, who was killed by a wild boar. A flower growing on the spot where he fell was  stained crimson by his blood and was named adonis. Blooms june thru the first frost.  Will grow 12-18 inches tall. Likes full sun to partial shade. Average water.   Toxic principle is present in very small quantities in this plant.
