Winter radishes a larger and more turnip like. Like summer radish they can be eaten raw in salads or they can be cooked like a Turnip or Swede. Radish seedling leaves can also be used as cut and come again salad.

Sow fortnightly from February to September for a constant supply of fresh radish. Sow radish seeds directly into shallow drills, around 1 inch deep, or under cloches. Germination normally takes 5 to 7 days. Thin out the seedlings as soon as possible, to give more space for maturing roots to swell, you can use the thinnings in salads.

Radishes prefer moist fertile soil, with regular watering in dry periods to promote rapid root growth.
