French artist Paul Gaugin was originally a stockbroker, until the crash of the Paris Stock Exchange in November 1882 forced him to find other work.  So he turned to painting.

But he also created folk art and stained glass, Far Eastern and medieval sculptures, Japanese woodblock  printmaking and decorative textile arts.

This fabulous work known as, Ta Matete (We Shall Not go to Market Today) from 1892, was one of the many styles of artwork he produced with simple figures and lots of bold colours.

PS:

Vintage art was not created to fit our modern frame sizes.  Most original work is much longer, or too short to fit a standard frame.

Sadly, many print suppliers crop vintage art to make it fit standard sizes, but this risks losing beautiful parts of the artwork.

I believe that you should be able to view the old artwork in its full glory.  And so you'll find many of the prints here have non-standard white borders.

These allow you to crop the print to the size you want.  Or frame it as it is in a glass clipframe, or with a contrasting matt that brings the artwork to life.

Your choice of frame makes a world of difference to your artwork too.  Enjoy your print.
