PICTURE OF THE WEEK:
'Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the land, many dressed up as Santa, like this whale in Japan. At the Hakkeijima Sea Paradise down Tokyo way, this beluga and others made the new Yuletide gay. With a jaunty red cap and face hinting at mirth, the mammal shares much with St. Nick (check its girth!). Both Arctic natives, they're comfy when cold. And though born with color, they turn white when they're old. That layer of blubber keeps them warm in the ice, and they're smart enough to tell naughty from nice. And so, dear reader, the point of our tale: Be kind to all creatures, whether elfin or whale. PHOTOGRAPH BY JUNKO KIMURA.
DEPARTMENTS:
Your Weekend: Carly Simon sings you lullabies.
Plus: A cheat sheet for cholesterol-busting food.
Picture Puzzle: Can you find all the changes that we've dreamed up?.
