At a Glance LM3915:

The LM3915N-1 is an LED Display driver that can drive up to 100 LEDs in Dot Mode or Bar Mode.  The current that flows through the LEDs is regulated and programmable, thus, resistors do not need to be implemented.  With the elimination of resistors, the whole IC can be operated with less than 3V.

The LM3915 (lm3915n-1 no Pb) can be used for variety of application.  Some but not limited to, includes:

  • 0 volts to 5 volts bargraph meter.

  • Cascading more than one LM3915 in dot mode.

  • Zero centered meter for 20 segment bargraph (or 20 LED equivalent).

  • Exclamation point display.

  • Indicator and alarm, switching display from dot mode to bargraph mode.

  • Bar display with alarm flasher.

  • And many more applications that can be found on the web for the electronics' enthusiast, hobbyist, or hard-core engineer.



At a Glance White 5mm LEDs:

This White Light Emitting Diodes come in White diffused material as shown in images.  These LEDs are great for any General Purpose electronic projects.  The electrical characteristics of these LEDs are as follows:

Test Conditions:  15 - 20 mA.
Forward Voltage:  2.6 - 3.0 Volts *.
Forward Current:  15 mA *.
Reverse Current:  10 uA.

LED dimension type:  5mm Round.

* Note that the maximum forward voltage for this LED type is 3.0 volts; however the typical-voltage applied should be kept at about 2.8 Volts.

* The typical forward current of operation of this LED type is 15 mA; however the LED will work well at 10 mA.  Now, the maximum operational current is 20 mA and it must not be exceeded, otherwise the LED will degrade faster and subsequently burn-out.
