The pine tree appeared on Earth 150 million years ago. During this time, the face of the planet changed, many species of plants and animals appeared and disappeared, and their contemporary, the pine tree, has survived to the present day. Pine is one of the most common tree species in Western Europe, the forest and forest–steppe zones of the European part of Russia, Siberia, and the Far East.

This evergreen tree is treated with special respect in many countries of the world. It represents eternity, devotion, and fertility. The healing properties of pine were also highly appreciated. The oldest recipe, which used pine resin, is already 5,000 years old. Pine oil is obtained from needles and young shoots by steam distillation.
