This vintage highly collectible doll by Patricia Bonds Gaetano is titled Little Papoose and is a soft sculptured doll handcrafted with a feathers, beads, fabrics and precious stones as well as other natural fibers. Doll measures 13 inches in height and 10 inches in width at the widest point.
Patricia Bonds Gaetano is a self taught folk artist/designer. Born in Panama spent most of her childhood and young adult life in Virginia . After moving to Boulder Co. in 1977 , she spent the next few years working with different media. In 1981 while on a visit to Santa Fe New Mexico, she was inspired by the beauty of the Southwest and its Native people. The dolls currently combine the folk art traditions of the Seminole patchwork, beadwork, basketry , weaving and wreath making with beads, shells, bones, feathers, and many found and recycled treasures". Her "Collector" dolls sold at Santa Fe galleries for $575.00.
