ON OUR COVER The coffee-pot on our cover is a fine example of the china made by the firm of Tucker and Hemphill (1832-1838) . This was the best
period of Tucker china when the white translucent porcelain was often mistaken for impertsd ware. The bands of coin gold and the compact bunch of
naturalistic flowers in bright colors are characteristic decorations of this china.
