antique victorian FANCYWORK PURSE w/PHEASANT BIRD BAKELITE BUTTERSCOTCH HANDLE
This listing is for the amazing purse shown. I'm not exactly sure about what every part is made from, so I'll try to explain to the best of my ability.
The fabric of this purse is very textured. Maybe crochet with string, not thread. There are like puffed ball-ish textures. It is a gray color. Excellent condition.
Inside is a purple-ish silk/satin with pocket. Nice and clean with no tears.
The handle is a see-through plastic. Not sure if this is bakelite or lucite. However, there are parts that are colored, like coffee or tea, to make it more interesting. This is all part of the "plastic" and not painted on. See the nice pheasants or birds on each side. The handle is attached to the pocketbook with thread and beads.
The handle looks great and you might not notice anything wrong. But I think there was a clasp as there is a small piece of plastic nailed to the outside of one side. Also inside, the hinges are separated.
This lovely purse measures approx 9.25" high x 9.25" across the bottom.
