Framed Goya's Red Boy lithograph (the local museum says it's a painting, we think it's a litho- look closely and zoom on the pictures- you decide)
Antique frame and matted (we think the painting is antique as well- original was done in 1784) Original painter was Francisco de Goya (Spanish), and was done 4/11/1784 Painting/litho is of "Red Boy" whose name was Manuel Osorio Manrique de Zuniga His parents were Count & Countess of Altamira The boy was about 3 or 4 years old when it was done and died when he was 8 years old The birds were his pets (note the string tied to the Magpie's leg), so were the cats (note the one in the background) There are goldfinches in the cage and the paper in the Magpie's beak is the painter's calling card Unsure of exact date of this painting- only the date of the original Judging by the frame, we think this may be late 1800s We can't see a signature on the painting, it may be under the frame or not at all- we didn't take it apart- local museum says it's definitely a painting See condition notes (cracks in painting, chips in frame, etc) and photos for further detail This item comes from a smoke-free, pet-friendly home. |
