The things you can do with concrete and stone in improving, remodeling or even building your home or vacation home are just about limitless.

The versatility of masonry, and its durability when the work has been properly done, are phenomenal.

One of the rewarding things about working with rock and cement in any of their many forms is that you get a lot for a little money. 

Another is the great control you can exercise over the result. 

All masonry is what you make it.

A good deal of what you find in this book comes out of my own experience in building a number of houses and vacation cabins and in adding patios and porches, fireplaces and barbecues, walks and driveways and pools of one kind or another to make the dwellings more enjoyable to live in. 

A camera was kept at hand a large part of the time, and that's how nearly half of the more than 200 photographs in this book were made.
