Kenmore Microwave Cookery Cookbook Hardcover Book from Benjamin Company 1982
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Congratulations!
You have selected a superior cooking method, joining the countless thousands who have discovered the joys of the microwave oven and are delighted by this fast, easy, and efficient method of cooking.
But, as with any new appliance, before you start to cook, you should take time to read the instructions carefully.
These illustrated introductory chapters are designed to be a cooking school in book form. We will show and tell you all about the way the oven works, why it works that way, what it can do, and how to quickly become an accomplished microwave cook.
There is nothing complicated about using the oven; all you need is a little understanding of the special qualities of microwave cooking and you'll be on your way.
Like any comprehensive conventional cookbook, this book tries to leave nothing to chance.
We think you'll soon agree that cooking in the microwave oven is as easy as it looks.
Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the principles and techniques of the oven then try the wonderful recipes that begin on page 35.
To install your oven, follow the Use and Care manual's directions.
The microwave oven requires little maintenance. Unlike a conventional oven, which generates heat in the oven cavity, there is no heat in the microwave cavity, so food and grease do not bake on.
Just a simple wiping is all it occasionally needs.
The Principles
In conventional cooking by gas or electricity, food on top of the stove cooks by heat applied to the bottom of the pan, and in the oven by hot air, which surrounds the food. In microwave cooking, microwaves travel directly to the food, without heating the oven.
