Memo To A Firing Squad Drama Paperback Book by Frederick Hazlitt Brennan 1943
A story of today's underground in Europe.
Flamboyant, racy, swiftly paced, and exciting from the first sentence to the last is this novel of an American newspaper man in wartime Lisbon.
The American was fired from his paper because of his violently anti-Nazi views.
He has fallen in with a gang of Portuguese and Spanish underground conspirators who are tracking down the group of high Nazi officials gathered in Lisbon to plot a phony peace.
That is sufficient to indicate the violent nature of the story and its breathless dramatic quality.
Among the characters are a beautiful Polish refugee girl, a corrupt Portuguese police official, a murderous Dutchman, Gestapo agents, an American Fascist, an Argentine diplomat, and a Portuguese general whose castle is being used by the Nazi Plotters.
