Barracuda Action Paperback Book by Irving A. Greenfield from Charter 1978
Barracuda
pride of America's nuclear submarine fleet, was lost at sea and finally forgotten by all but a few men in high places. Then, a pilot on a routine recon flight spots her in the Caribbean, half a world away from where she went down. He is rewarded for his discovery by being murdered.
As the deadly, silent running sub slips back below the surface a hunt begins, punctuated by deaths on land; until there is but one course of action left...and the scream of American and Soviet jets fills the air. "...it is excellent."
