The Redcoats and their redskin allies were set to drive down through the Kentucky wilderness and hit the Continentals in the flank. 

Only Dan'l Boone's band of buckskin pioneers stood between-and they were short of gunpowder.

Boone gave Kane Tawney the task of fetching that powder-and sent him to brave the uncharted waters of the wild Ohio and the treacherous Mississippi to get it.

With the banks alive with hostile scalp-hunters, Kane set out-and found himself involuntarily escorting a red-headed woman to New Orleans.

Kane knew that the fiery wench was either a Tory spy or a natural trouble- maker, but he was already launched into the headstrong rapids. He was going to have to RUN THE RIVER GAUNTLET with her at his side-and take his chances.
