This is the first volume of the oldest annual collection of the best mystery-detective fiction, which David Cookke edited for its first 15 years. 316 pages, featuring 14 short stories by such well-known writers of the day as Q. Patrick, Bruno Fischer and Day Keene. They were selected from such pulp magazines as Detective Tales, Doc Savage, Black Mask and The Shadow, as well as slicks like Collier's and SatEvePost. Slight corner & edge bumps, slight spine end wear and back cover wrinkling, tiny stain on top edges, a few page creases, a name written on the ffep; o/w, nice. The jacket has a large chip at the spine head, affecting "Best"in the book title; also general wear, but overall a serviceable jacket. A SCARCE BOOK.
