FAR COUNTRY: Cattleman must battle the elements and frontier lawlessness in this classic. Stewart leads his herd to the Yukon in hopes of large profits, but ends up having to kidnap it back from the crooked sheriff and avenging the death of his friends. Entertaining and the Yukon setting takes it out of the usual Western arena.
NIGHT PASSAGE: Stewart is Grant McLaine, an ex-lawman hired to protect the railroad's payroll from a band of outlaws who've heisted previous attempts to get the payroll through. Unbeknownst to Grant, the gang is led by his brother (Audie Murphy), who's known as the "Utica Kid".
Eventually Grant and the Kid will have to have a showdown, unless Grant can convince him to go straight. Fans of the stars and the genre will enjoy this solid outing, Stewart also plays the accordian and sings two songs.
RARE BREED: A no-strings ranch hand (Stewart) agrees to escort a Hereford Bull to Texas, where the widow of an English breeder plans to crossbreed the bull with longhorn cattle. The widow (Maureen O'Hara) insists that she and her daughter accompany Stewart on the trip, which features every kind of western calamity imaginable. When all others believe the attempt to crossbread has failed, Stewart sets out to prove them wrong.
