This beginners approach to fingerpicking uses well known folk tunes to develop both left & right hand techniques. The tunes are introduced with simplified chords & accompaniment by a downward strum of the thumb. Next,the thumb & three fingers pluck simultaneously to produce block chords,and finally render more complex apeggiated patterns. While barre chords are judiciously avoided throughout,the alternating bass concept is presented with "full strength" chords using all 6 strings where applicable. While melodies are shown in standard notation,the lyrics & companion CD serve as a rhythmic guide to the student; neither tab or note reading is required to complete this enjoyable course.
