This is a new old stock Professional's Choice Classic Equine Clear Signal Derby Deluxe Solid Port Bit CSEBD-101. The bit has never been in a horse's mouth, but there is some light oxidation from storage on the mouthpiece and inside shanks. This entire bit has been designed based on extensive research into the anatomy of the horses mouth and how the bit functions. The cheekpiece features a carefully placed curb slot, which moves the curb strap back for correct engagement leaving more room for the bit to move before having the curb chain effect. The Clear Signal curb mouthpiece is designed with a curve that is bigger than other port bits. The flat mouthpiece is more stable in the horse's mouth than a round mouthpiece and the design makes it softer on the mouth leaving nice room for the horse's tongue. This bit allows pressure to only be applied to a horse when the bit is engaged. This allows a horse to respond faster to commands as it receives a direct, clear signal. The shape of the bars allows the horse to hold the bit comfortably without movement or slippage while in a relaxed state. Made from alloy steel with a sweet iron mouth that will rust over time, this bit has a Lifetime guarantee from Professional's Choice. The bit measures 5 inches wide with a port height of 2-1/8 inches tall and the flat mouthpiece is 5/8 inch tall by 3/8 inch wide. The beautifully engraved German Silver shanks measure 6 inches long with a 3 inch purchase for a two to one leverage ratio. These great bits are now discontinued, leaving only the secondary and used market as a purchasing option.
