A beautiful tropical annual grown almost everywhere as a bedding plant. This red variety blooms mid spring through summer. An old garden favorite that features a large crested flower head, 3” + across with each flower head somewhat resembling the comb of a rooster.   Flowers bloom throughout summer into fall, sometimes to frost, on stems full of spear-shaped green to red-purple leaves. Grows 9 – 12 inches. A low maintenance plant with medium water requirements. Grow anytime of the year as a container plant.
