Omamori Katana - SEI EN, Vol 02
Swords of Good Fortune by Modern Master Sword Smiths
This publication displays a collection of exquisite Omamori Katana made by contemporary Japanese master sword smiths.
There is an ancient custom in Japan of giving a wakizashi (short sword, or tanto) to a newly wed bride, or to a family to commemorate the birth of a child. The purpose of this gift is to act as a protective amulet, assuring the child's well being.
Though these kinds of Omamori Katana are not commonly given today, skilled sword smiths today still produce stunningly beautiful blades and Koshirae in this same spirit and tradition.
