Hydrometers are used to measure the specific gravity of fluids at specific temperatures. Twadell developed a scale where 60 degrees Fahrenheit = 0 degrees Twadell for water with a specific gravity of 1. And if you understand what that means, your science and chemistry training is a lot better than mine! The glass is perfect and the mercury is still encapsulated in balls, so it has never been used. It measures 12" long and the bulb is 13/16" in diameter.
