The sphynx or sphinx cat (also commonly but mistakenly called the Egyptian cat) is a breed of cat native to Canada. The most striking characteristic of this breed is the apparent absence of fur and its thin and slender appearance. Although the specimens of the breed appear to be hairless cats, it should be noted that they are not truly hairless cats, but rather their skin is covered with a layer of very fine, short and even hair, almost imperceptible to sight or touch.
