This is an antiquarian novel, The Call of the Blood, by Robert Hichens, illustrated by Orson Lowell.  The vintage book was published in October 1906 by Harper & Brothers Publishers, New York and London.  This lovely antique novel was recently found in an old plantation house in Virginia, it likely has sat in the same house since it was placed there by the original owner.  The book is worn, especially around edges and corners, but all pages are in tact.  There are a couple of handwritten notations on the inside cover, likely original price (1.50) and owner name and the word Virginia.  (See Photos).  There are a few yellow age stains inside the book.
