Hawaii Calls was broadcast on 750 radio stations worldwide from 1935 to 1975. It featured a live music orchestra conducted by Harry Owens, composer of Sweet Leilani. The show featured musicians and singers who showcased Hawaiian music sung in English. - a genre that was dubbed hapa haole (half white). The show was broadcast weekly from the Moana Hotel and hosted by Webley Edwards and produced by Capitol Records.
