Hawaii Calls was broadcast on 750 radio stations worldwide from 1935 to 1975. It featured a live music orchestra conducted by Harry Owens, composer of Sweet Leilani. The show featured musicians and singers who showcased Hawaiian music sung in English. - a genre that was dubbed hapa haole (half white). The show was broadcast weekly from the Moana Hotel and hosted by Webley Edwards and produced by Capitol Records. Regulars on the Show included Alfred Apaka, Martin Denny, Haunani Kahalewai, John Kameaaloha Almeida, Hilo Hattie & More.
