Chocolate Habanero (Capsicum annuum) is a unique and extremely hot pepper. Absolutely crammed with sweet smoky flavor, this pepper packs a pretty big punch with 400,000 and 575,000 Scoville Heat Units or SHU. This is about half as hot as a ghost pepper, but more than 50 times hotter than a jalapeno and double of a regular habanero! Warm soil that is weakly alkaline to neutral is the key to growing hot peppers. Please note that extreme hot peppers will take up to 30 days to germinate. Keep moist, do not saturate until germination
Hot peppers can be very difficult to germinate. I highly recommend that you use the damp paper towel method to germinate your hot pepper seeds:
1. Place pepper seeds on a paper towel 2. Use spray bottle to dampen seeds and paper towel (do not soak) 3. Fold paper towel and dampen outside of paper towel 4. Place in a zip-lock back and seal 5. Store in a room temperature environment. If you have a heating pad, ideal germination temp should be between 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit 6. Check every couple of days for germination. After germination takes place, transfer to pot with soil
Germination can take up to 30 days for extremely hot peppers, much shorter time with method above, 100 days to maturity
Collected: 3/22
Germination: 80%
