Acerola (Malpighia glabra), also known as Barbados vine, tropical vine or Puerto Rican cherry, is a subtropical species in the Malpighiaceae family. Its edible fruits have a remarkable vitamin C content.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, essential for the health of the body, which is why it is one of the most consumed supplements. It plays a primary role in the formation of collagen, important for the growth and repair of tissue cells, blood vessels, gums, bones and teeth.
