Portrait of boy aged 12-14 painted in late 18th century presumably by RA John Opie, 1761 – 1807 (or his studio, circle), English historical and portrait painter. He painted many great men and women of his day, including members of the British Royal Family, and others who were notable in the artistic and literary professions. The artist depicts here a young man beginning to grow up. His skin is still pink and smooth, but he already looks as understanding this world from a new perspective... He's got a long life ahead and he will have to face many joyful moments, sadness and grief, and once to do the only one right choice for eternity. Antique oil painting on canvas, unsigned, framed.
