Cute Mason vista 3 3/8" square ashtrays. Circa 1950's. Looks like they've never been used! Excellent condition. Mason Ironstone was founded in 1796 by Miles Mason. In 1813, Charles James Mason, the third son of Miles Mason, received a patent for his “ironstone china.” This hardened earthenware proved useful in the production of daily china, as well as industrial strength tiles used in furnaces, fireplaces, and flooring. Because of its exceptional durability, ironstone became the most successful product sold by the Mason's throughout England and Europe. It is famous for the Italian and English landscapes painted with oriental character. The designs are transferware using deep green, cobalt blue and iron red enamel paints before each piece is glazed. Please inspect the photos carefully and ask questions prior to purchase, as these are vintage pieces that have been used and will show some wear. |
