Description: A nice antique primitive candle mold. This is a twelve-tube candle mold to make 8 3/4" long tube candles. The 12 candles are arranged in two rows. The mold has ~3/4" diameter openings on one end for the base of the candles being made. The mold also has small openings at the opposite end to allow for the wick to stay out of the candle. The piece is soldered together and is very well done. It has a loop soldered to the top to hold it and carry it. A very interesting antique tin mold in very good condition. It would make a great addition to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. 

Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 1800s (mid to late 19th century). 

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania, where it was most likely made. 

Size: The mold measures ~7 1/16" by ~3 1/4" on the top flat end, ~7" by ~3" on the bottom flat end and is ~10 3/8" long from end to end. The piece weighs a bit over one pound and 4 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very nice primitive tin Americana piece in good condition and worthy of a spot in your collection. 

Condition: The mold is intact with some wear to the surface and some rust spots throughout. It is in good condition with no losses or repairs. The surface has darkened with age, has scratches, some dings (see last two photos), and minor rust spots, which can be seen in the photos but are nothing of true concern. There are 4 pieces of felt attached to the bottom four corners which will protect a surface on which the mold is set. There are also some minor breaks and cracks at the bottom along the edge and a small crack in the bottom base. There is also waviness along the top edge. These are minor and do not distract from the beauty of the piece. The piece is generally clean and has aged to a warm dark gray colored patina. It would make an excellent addition to your antique primitive collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
