Grit Coarseness Guide

Coarse - 40 Grit - Good for fast removal of material

Medium - 60 to 80 Grit - Good for sanding bare surfaces in preparation for finishing and for removal of previous finishes

Fine - 100 to 120 Grit - Good for additional preparation of surfaces before applying finishes

Very Fine - 150 to 220 Grit - Good for final preparation of surfaces before applying finishes

Very Fine Finish Sanding - 240 to 320 Grit - Good for sanding finishes between coats

Extra Fine - 400 to 600 Grit - Good for initial polishing of finishes

Super Fine - 800 to 1200 Grit - Good for final polishing of finishes

Ultra Fine - 1500 to 2000 Grit - Good for final polishing of thick finishes
