The Japanese have placed a small airstrip far behind their lines so Zero fighter-bombers can support their regular defenses. American forces have been tasked to capture the well-protected position. This playset includes a combined U.S. Marine-U.S. Navy task force which strikes deep behind enemy lines to capture the airfield. American units include 36 Marines, two inflatable boats (each with two paddling crewmen) and an elite Navy Underwater Demolitions Team Boat with a cannon, a mini-submarine and 5 divers to scout ahead of the task force to find a suitable landing place. Ashore, the Americans are supported by a field mortar team and a machine gun team. Japanese defenders include regular troops and a special unit of elite Japanese Paratroopers, using 2 rocky outcroppings, a concrete pillbox, 6 barbed wire fences and a Zero fighter-bomber airplane to aid in the defense.
This is one of three different, but inter-connected, Toy Soldier Company French and Indian War Playsets. Each set can stand on its own, but when combined with the other two sets from the same range the resulting collection creates a broad canvas upon which you and your kids can rewrite history! Please note that the contents of each set are almost entirely different from the others in the range.
