If you've got a vehicle from the Compatibility List with a radio that gives you errors or will not load or eject CDs (or perhaps it does so noisily), this is likely the CD drive you need.  However, this is for single CD radios only.  If you've got a LOAD button, you have a CD6 radio and it takes a different drive.

This drive should work in radios like those pictured below.  HOWEVER, it is up to you to pop the top of your radio case off and confirm it is the same drive you have.

In rare instances, you may find that replacing the drive does not solve your problem.  Occasionally the control board on the bottom of the drive is defective and, if this is the case, replacing the drive will not change anything.  You must replace the board too.  This is very rare but we do see it a couple times out of every 100 purchases.   If you want to add the board now, to be safe, it is available too.  Please contact us for more info.

 Assembly is fairly easy and we do include written instructions.  This drive comes without the GM Delco control board on the bottom but this is VERY easily swapped from your defective drive.  There are two small phillips screws and two ribbon cables with quick dis-connects.  You will also need to remove the bracket from the back of your defective drive and swap it to the new one.  This is also VERY easy, as it's just two 3/16 hex screws.

 Do not attempt this repair with the radio still plugged in!  This is your one and only caution regarding this.

  • Shipping cost is based on weight and zip code.  This site does the figuring, not us.  If you feel their calculation is high, you might be underestimating the package weight and/or current shipping costs from our zip code (62401) to yours.  Please don't ding us for shipping in the ratings, as we have no control over ever-increasing carrier rates.
  • We will enter a tracking number into your order details here on the site.  They will email it to you if your notification preferences are set correctly.
  • A signature is not typically required. If you are not home to receive the package, it will most likely be left at your door.  Please monitor it's progress and arrange to collect it when it arrives.
